Speed Landscape Painting

Speed Landscape Painting

Saturday 12 October
Garment District - 10am - 2 Hours
Kayin Mujahid
The focus of this two-hour structured session is "speed" and "form", i.e. capturing the essence of a subject. You will be guided to complete some "warm-up" color and drawing exercises and prepared for doing ink and watercolor-based painting in the session. You will learn how to quickly sketch and capture multiple subjects in the garden with ink and wash technique. You will be advised to keep things rather loose and time your drawing/painting.
You will have a chance to meet and greet like-minded people, choose your own subjects in the garden and be guided to complete the exercises, and artwork and have some takeaway homework with the learned technique. All levels and experiences are welcome.

Our teacher was excellent! She went around to each individual and gave specific feedback and encouragement! She also stayed after the class was over if we wanted to continue painting! Would love to have more instruction from her!

Kayin Mujahid
I'm Kayin Mujahid 2014 a Fine Arts Major and visual artist based in Kansas City, MO. I specialize in mixed media, watercolor, acrylic, and pastel. I am drawn to mixed media because you can paint and draw simultaneously, switching from one medium to another as each layer transforms the piece.
Watercolor is such a beautiful and versatile medium. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, I'm here to help! Simple as learning basic techniques, controlling the water/ pigment ratio, and understanding colors.

I belong to a small group of fellow artists that formed during the pandemic to encourage one another while we were unable to take classes. We are still meeting monthly to share our artwork. Each month we have a topic and the month I created this, the topic was ?rain.? I splashed water on my kitchen counter and placed a pair of sunglasses on the water and took it from there!
